1 baking sheet
1 Basting brush
1 small bowl
- 1 bag frozen onion rings
- 4 ¼ lb. ground beef patties
- 4 slices medium cheddar cheese
- 1 bottle BBQ sauce
- 1 head butter lettuce washed and separated
- 1 tomato sliced
- 1 avocado, optional sliced
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
- salt
- pepper
Preheat oven and cook the onion rings according to the package instructions (usually between 15-25 minutes, turning once halfway through).
While the onion rings bake, grill your beef patties. Season with salt and pepper, then place patties on the grill. Use your basting brush to coat the top side with BBQ sauce. Flip over and baste the other side. Cook for 4 minutes, flip, and baste once more. Cook to your desired level of doneness, placing a slice of cheese on top of each patty for the last minute of cooking. This will allow the cheese to get a little melty. Transfer from the grill to a plate.
Assemble your burger by placing a patty on one of the sesame seed buns, then two onion rings directly on to the cheese. Top with BBQ sauce, lettuce, avocado (optional), and tomato.
