Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice comes with an interesting and humble beginnings story. Ululani was born in Hawaii, moved to the Pacific Northwest, and really missed Hawaii shaved ice. (This is a sentiment I fully understand)
In 2003, she started her business at community events and private parties. Over the years her business and reputation grew where she established her first store front in Maui. Ululani’s has several locations in Hawaii as well as California and Texas.
We first experienced Ululani’s shave ice when we visited Maui in 2019. We made several stops. The best Hawaii shave ice has finely shaved snow with a generous portion of flavored syrup and lots of optional toppings. Ululani’s is one of the best shaved ices we’ve had.
Going to their shop in Honolulu didn’t disappoint and reinforced the delicious memories from Maui. Their syrups don’t get watered down and are intensely flavorful. They also taste exactly how you feel they should taste. Pina colada is the best pina colada. Passionfruit is passionfruit.
If you’re in the Waikiki or Honolulu area, Ululani’s is a spot to hit.
