Korean Spinach Side Dish (Sigeumchi Namul)

This spinach side dish is quick to prep and requires only 6 ingredients! Seasoned with garlic, soy sauce, and sesame oil, it’s a versatile side for any Asian meal for flavor and freshness.

Korean Spinach Side Dish

An easy side dish for Asian meals that is seasoned with soy sauce, garlic, and sesame oil.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces spinach leaves washed
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 stalks green onion chopped
  • 3 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 3 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon roasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Boil water in a large pot and blanch the spinach for about 1 minute.
  • Strain the spinach and rinse under cold water. Then squeeze out the excess water. The spinach will be in a ball shaped from squeezing the water out.
  • Cut the spinach ball a few times to get bite sized pieces.
  • In a medium bowl, add the spinach, garlic, green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sesame seeds. Mix thoroughly with chopsticks or by hand.
  • Serve immediately or chill until serving.
