Seattle, WA
Deru Market is a hidden but well known gem barely outside of downtown Kirkland. It’s a locally owned family business that makes food from scratch using local ingredients. They serve brunch, lunch, dinner, and also offer catering.
The Cake
Let’s talk about cake. I can’t get enough of the cake at Deru Market. Specifically their coconut cake with cream cheese frosting. A friend of mine introduced me to it at her birthday party one year and it was an instant, pure, and true love. It’s been my cake of choice for extra special occasions since then (and let’s be honest, when the craving hits!).
The cake layers are dense but soft, perfection between the most creamy, thick, melt in your mouth, sweet but not too sweet cream cheese frosting. Shaved coconut completes the look and gives extra coconut flavor.
You can pre-order and drive through their pickup lane for a slice, eat in their cozy indoor or outdoor space, or order a full cake to take home and celebrate with. They have other by the slice cake flavors currently including carrot, chocolate with salted peanut butter frosting, and chocolate with chocolate frosting.
My last visit I picked up some of their other baked goods – chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and salted peanut butter cookies, and a coconut scone. They were all delicious! I especially liked the salted peanut butter cookie and the scone.
If you’re looking for the ultimate cake, a new brunch spot, or catering for your next party, check out Deru Market!
