Portland, OR
Voodoo Doughnut is a bright and purely Portland-weird doughnut shop with several locations across the US. It began in downtown Portland, and the store we visited is on Davis Street on the Eastside. A super quirky, all-pink shop, this storefront is inviting and fun for all ages.
Note: there are occasionally “adult” doughnuts that are not very kid-friendly- check out the menu online to see what’s in the area.
My guests and I ordered 2 doughnuts each- one for the long car ride and another for the following morning’s breakfast.
The overall favorites were the classic maple bar and the Voodoo Doughnut specialty, the bacon maple bar. Can’t go wrong with the sweet and salty flavors!
I’ve always been partial to the Oh Captain, My Captain doughnut, which has vanilla frosting and a captain crunch cereal topping. This flavor is best ordered in the early morning so the doughnut is freshly baked and the cereal is crunchy.
The Sweet Cream Cannolo was unique; a perfect (and still fresh!) partner to a homemade latte the next morning.
Of the seasonal flavors, the Mango Tango was tangy and sweet, while the Caramel Macchiato definitely had strong coffee flavors. Both were labeled good tasting, but did not stay as fresh overnight- best eaten right away!
