How to Cook a Wolf is an upscale Italian restaurant offering small plates and pasta dishes. It’s part of the Ethan Stowell family of restaurants with two locations in the Queen Anne and Madison Park neighborhoods.
Many of their dishes utilize seasonal foods and the menu is ever changing. They offer outdoor seating for warmer weather and an intimate dining room.
We visited the Madison Park location of How to Cook a Wolf. It is located off of the main road with street parking in walking distance.
We started with the Sea Wolf Bakery sourdough (since we are huge fans of the bakery) and the brussels sprouts. The sprouts were flavorful with a good char and a gigantic heaping of grated parmesan which enhanced the nutty flavor.
Our entrees were the seasonal ravioli and gnocchi. The ravioli was sweet corn with jalapeno and blueberry which straddled sweet and savory. The gnocchi had chunks of wild mushrooms, cherry tomato, and garnished with a healthy dose of pine nuts.
Lastly, the original cannoli had a ricotta cheese base and a generous portion of chopped pistachios. The filling was creamy, not overly sweet and the shell had the right amount of crunch.
