New York, NY
With two locations in New York City, Keki Modern Cakes, draws inspiration from Japanese, Taiwanese, and Korean pastry shops. They source from Upstate New York and Pennsylvania farms and have a commitment to pure ingredients. Keki Modern Cakes is home to the first “Bouncy Cheesecake” in the USA and their cakes have Asian-inspired flavors such as ube and green tea.

We ordered the sponge cake and the Wow Tart. The tart had a crispy croissant-like crust with a creamy, cheesy, milky filling that was just the right amount of sweetness. Asian sponge cake is one of my favorite cakes and Keki definitely has a good one. It was airy and soft with the subtle egg flavor I’ve come to expect. The cake serves 3-4 people, but I could have eaten the whole thing by myself.
I would have liked to try more of their menu, I’m looking at you Ube Bouncy and Strawberry Fancy Cheesecake, however their cakes are sold whole with no slices for purchase. Next time! They also offer nationwide shipping through Goldbelly.
