Local Tide is a casual seafood restaurant in Fremont with a focused menu, indoor seating, and small bar. Their offerings include sandwiches, bowls, chowder, fried items, and a special crab roll that is only available on weekends. We visited on a Saturday and were met with a small line from their walk up counter and a bustling, bright interior.

I ordered the Dungeness crab roll, available Friday through Sunday, despite the $30 price tag. Described as hand-cracked Dungeness crab with mayo, lemon, and chives on a split top bun, I was optimistic that it would be worth the price. At first glance it appears that there is a relatively small mound of crab on top of the beautifully toasted roll, but once I dug in I found that it was stuffed pretty full! It was one of the better crab rolls that I’ve had! The flavors were well balanced and delicate, nothing too in your face, and I savored each bite. I will say that while I found it quite filling, it might not be considered a full meal for another, and recommend grabbing a side of their salt and pepper fries.
I also want to point out that as I waited at the counter for my order, each dish that I watched coming out of the kitchen made me think “I want to try that.” Definitely worth the trip to Fremont and I plan to go back for more!

We tried the Black Cod Kasuzuke bowl and the crab roll. Kasuzuke is one of my favorite fish dishes and it didn’t disappoint. The rice and the spinach sides in the bowl were also flavorful and complimented the fish well.
The crab roll was our favorite item. It does come with a hefty price and I initially wasn’t sure it was worth it. But it is. The soft and buttery brioche roll is perfect with the well seasoned and buttery crab. The only downside, as Mysa mentioned, is that you could easily eat more than one.
