Big Chicken

06/12/2023 by TheDishDiary

Backed by Shaquille O’Neal, Big Chicken doesn’t mess around when it comes to chicken sandwiches and ice-cream shakes. It has quickly become one of our favorite places in the area for a fried chicken burger.

My jam at Big Chicken is the crispy chicken grilled cheese sandwich.  It has melty cheeses, juicy chicken, and chipotle BBQ sauce on medium-thick grilled bread.  It’s one of my go-to’s when I have a comfort food craving.

I thought the big and sloppy was ok, with a nice creamy texture, but didn’t have a star flavor and was pretty one note for me.  The tender, lightly seasoned and breaded chicken that is used for the sandwiches stands out as one of the better chicken sandwiches I’ve had from a semi-fast food restaurant.

I also really enjoy their dirty fries, with bacon, pepperoncini, cheese sauce, and chipotle sauce, eaten with a fork.  I can’t stop once I start with them.  If you have a craving for a delicious fried chicken sandwich that isn’t coated in thick batter, I recommend giving this a try!

The only main item I’ve tried is the crispy chicken grilled cheese and I’m not sure I’d order anything different because it’s delicious. Cheesy with a healthy dose of BBQ sauce makes it savory, sweet, and rich. I appreciate that their fried chicken is actually crisp even when slathered with sauce.

I need to backtrack on what I said about the grilled cheese since I actually just tried their Cobb salad. It was pretty hefty! It was basically a full portion salad with a side of popcorn chicken. The bonus for me is not getting my hands dirty! I’d order it again.

Not to sound like a broken record, but that grilled cheese sandwich is truly heaven. And with the huge portion and the sandwich cut into 2 triangles you get to go to heaven twice. If that option is feeling a bit heavy.

I’m not the biggest fried chicken fan, but there’s something to be said about a good crispy chicken tender and a great sauce.  I’d go back every weekend for some of the standard fare and am looking forward to trying some of the sandwiches!  P.S. that Honey Barbeque Sauce is delicioussss.
